JOYCE CHAO

I am a graphic designer whose journey began in graphic arts and package design. My love for design stems from the excitement to explore what my hands can create. My sculpting foundation, art education background, and package design experience have brought me to appreciate bold lines and shapes that showcase a simple, honest nature. I enjoy taking walks with my family and snapping photographs in my free time.

The one consistency in my life is the search for beautiful things. And I see it everywhere: the veins on a leaf, the aging of photos, the laughter from my children. The process of creation with my hands begins with the immersion of life—our own creations of beauty.

Boldness. Sacrifice. Renewal.

My love for art began in Taiwan, where as a child, I watched my grandfather sketch landscapes and scenes of rural life with oil pastels. I went on to attend an art vocational high school and studied graphic arts in college.

My journey to the United States started with an opportunity to get my Masters in graphic design, but also included the risks of abandoning my stable job and leaving the familiarity of home.

By the turn of the century, I decided to take a step back from my career and raise my family. During my break from design, I remained connected to my roots by holding art classes for my children, their friends, and a whole community of young artists.

I am at a stage where I want to reintroduce myself to the wonders and challenges of design and renew the fire in me to create. Work with me here.
